This morning something was said on the radio that made several people think that either my brother (or my husband) had been killed in a motorcycle accident, and my mother had died on the way to the hospital to see about him. Thankfully, they are fine, but first I had to make some phone calls to make sure. Sadly, it did happen to someone else, but my family's name was mentioned along with the story, leading to some confusion.

And, you know, several panicked calls while I tried to find any member of my family to confirm that everyone was okay. Answer your phones, people. That's all I'm saying.

Continuing in the we're-so-lucky files, on Thursdays I volunteer with a little girl who was born prematurely, at 26 weeks. She's three now, and pretty developmentally normal, which is a miracle since when she was born she weighed fourteen ounces. That's six ounces less than my venti vanilla latte that I drink on the way to volunteer with her. Today was my first day to actually work with her (last week was supposed to be, but we had tornadoes and it was cancelled). She's fiesty, and that's awesome.
